What is a Peri-Scope QPC?

A Peri-Scope is a stand alone Quantitative Plankton Classifier.

Peri is short for peristaltic, as in the pump used to control the sample flow.

Scope is short for the microscope used to visualize the sample in realtime during the process. From introducing the sample, to viewing the segmented images of the objects found, and production of the Classification Groups and Quantitative Object Size chart, takes just a few minutes. With no need to fix the sample beforehand, multiple samples can be processed daily. All data can be backed up to USB storage, and images from the gallery or the produced charts can be downloaded for emailing.

The Peri-Scope automatically processes your plankton sample through a closed loop system (with sample recovery), driven by the peristaltic pump.  The user can setup up the amount of sample liquid to be used during the process and the number of images required from the sample. The Peri-Scope will then calculate the amount of fluid to pump between images. Computer vision analyses the images, then object detection extracts the individual plankton run them through an object classifier and saves them to a built in folderized gallery that is accessible through the interface. The processed plankton data is then used to produce a Classification Group List and Quantitative Object Size chart of the results.

Easy to use and maintain!

The Peri-Scope does not require an internet connection for normal use.

It comes with a detachable GPS module to enable location and time data to be embedded in the output data and images if required. Each Peri-Scope has an individual ID and creates its own secure WiFi access point for connectivity. A full control interface, gallery and charting package is built into each Peri-Scope,  just connect with your laptop and start sampling. If your Peri-Scope is used in an environment with internet access you can connect it to the nearest WiFi AP or cabled network using the built in interface. All external sample pipework can be easily removed for cleaning, sterilising or replacement.

Portable! Take it to your samples

Compact size, powered by 12v DC so can be run off the supplied mains adapter or you can use the optionally available rechargeable powerbank or 12v vehicle cable.

Your Peri-Scope is supplied pre-calibrated in a waterproof, drop-proof case with a GPS module, a USB memory stick, a mains power adapter, a laminated quick start guide and a starter set of accessories including 250 micron filter funnel, plastic pipettes and 10m/l syringe bodies.
